We thought that departing from our 'home port' would be a great experience, but found the porters in the unloading area were not helpful at all. Finally one man assisted us by providing a stapler (which we were told all of them carry in their back pockets) and we gratefully tipped him. Customs and check-in went quite quickly and we were on the ship in about 45 minutes.
Having cruised with Holland America, Disney and Royal Caribbean, we had certain expectations but found many of the little touches which made those lines so enjoyable were missing on this line...fresh flowers, in-room fruit bowl refreshed each day, movie theatre, comfortable seating in the library, afternoon tea...
Disembarking at the ports was very efficient; however, one day when returning to the ship, it was pouring rain, long lines, and there were no awnings over the gangways, so by the time we entered, we were soaked. We booked our tours on land as they were so much cheaper than the ones arranged on board, and so enjoyed the ports of call.
We were assigned a special needs cabin, though we have no special needs. The room was quite spacious. The only trouble was, where the shower was wheelchair accessible, each time we had a shower, there was water all over the floor, despite the drains around the shower area. We had to use available towels each day to mop up the floor.
