We are a couple in our 60's from the UK and this cruise with the itinerary was to tick a lot of places on our "bucket list". We had not been on a Solstice ship before but were not disappointed the Silhouette is beautiful and the crew so friendly and helpful.

We flew in from Gatwick to Rome and was very impressed that Celebrity had someone in Gatwick at check in to welcome us and make sure we knew where to go and again as soon as we landed we were met by Celebrity representatives at every turn taking our luggage to the ship and getting us on the right coach to the port which took about 45 minutes. Check-in took just minutes and we were soon on board at about 1o'clock to the announcement that staterooms were ready and so were able to go straight there and drop off our hand luggage. We were in a sky suite 7309 in the aft of the ship on the corner. I had read about the distance to the aft staterooms but we never found this a problem (yes it is a little walk if you had mobility problems) but it was so quiet with no passing traffic and on the balcony we hardly ever heard anyone. The room itself was lovely - very roomy and lots of wardrobe and cupboard space. The bathroom was also a good size (for a ship) and a lovely shower over the bath. Every detail seems to have been thought about. The balcony is a wrap around with two lounge chairs with footstools and a nice wooden round table with views over the back and side - wonderful! There is talk about soot on the aft but we never once had a problem - the stateroom attendant washed the balcony down through the week but we never found anything. Our stateroom attendants and butler (which you get with a sky suite) were excellent and looked after us very well.

I will try and tell you a bit about the rest of the ship. Firstly the restaurants - the buffet was excellent with stations for so many different choices. At breakfast to name just a few - cereal, fruit, muffins, cakes, pancakes, breads, toast, eggs cooked in every way you could imagine, bacon, sausage, potatoes, beans etc (even fried bread for English travellers!) they even had a whole cooked hot gammon ham joint for carving! Lunch had stations for pasta, Mexican, Curry, salads, a roast joint, shepherds pie, lasagne, pizza, fish, a pannini station where they would make up what you would like. This is just a selection and I am sure there were many more plus of course cakes and desserts and the ice cream which was available from 12 midday until 9pm which had about 8 flavours. They also did a very good selection for dinner if you didn't want to go to the main restaurants and the selection was again very good with a lot of the same as lunch time but with extras such as sushi and more hot options.

Cabin Review

Sky Suite 1

Cabin S1

The corner aft sky suites are wonderful. Lots of room and storage. Bathroom has shower over the bath with a lovely rain fall shower head and an extra one for feet etc. Complimentary toiletries even cotton wool and ear buds and a night light so you don't have to put a light on in the middle of the night! You do have the pole by the bed but never found it a problem. We had welcome bottle of fizzy and fruit each day. We had a small complaint about the bathroom and after this to say sorry we received chocolates, flowers and an extra bottle of fizzy!! The balcony is the best as you have two comfortable lie back chairs with footstools and a good sized round table. The views are wonderful from the back and side. You are only overlooked if you stand at the handrail. As a suite guest you have a butler who brings afternoon tea to your cabin with sandwiches and cakes. I like a cream tea and so would go to the buffet and bring this back and have this with my afternoon tea!
