Booked this wonderful 7 day western Caribbean on the Carnival Magic. This was our first time on the Magic and had high expectations. First of, the boarding experience out of Galveston TX is as good as it gets. From parking to ship and everything in-between was pretty good. Once on the ship – WOW! This thing is impressive! From the amazing waterworks splash pad and rides, to the pools, the massive TV screen, multiple adult spas, and everything looks and feels brand new! We booked a balcony and had 4 people in the room (2adults and 2 kids) which was already prepped with bunk beds for us upon arrival. Once again, everything felt fresh and new, which is very important to us. Beds and pillows were awesome. We were able to remove the liquor out of the fridge and put our personal water in the cooler. Food was everywhere and was absolutely delicious! There was a bit of wait at times to get food, particularly favorites like Pizza, but most cases no more than a couple of minutes. Drinks were always available with the numerous staff walking around harassing you to buy a drink. Entertainment was awesome! There was always something to do! A show, casino, movie, or just sit around and do nothing – you got it, it’s always awesome. Walking around the ship, stopping at the pub or at the shops was cool. Arcade was nice too. Carnival kids ROCKS! Every time we dropped off the kids at babysitting service they never wanted to go when we came back for them after a few hours. This also gave us the opportunity to have a nice quiet dinner for a change, visit the steak or house or Italian restaurant, which were amazing BTW! Service was either fantastic or mediocre at best. By the most part, everybody was awesome, then you had idiots who don’t understand customer service. We had a huge spat with the restaurant matradee the first night of dinner because there was a mix up with our time (on carnivals side). This guy was such a rude person – talking in a foreign language in front of us to the other staff and laughing at us.. really sucked and in front of my two little girls. Clearly aware that Carnival has no customer service complaint department to mitigate these issues, and that zero action would be taken against them so they do what they wish. effective enough, when I called customer service, they basically didnt care. Ports were awesome! The ocean water in Honduras and Belize was amazing! We took taxi’s to the better beaches and they were definitely worth the cost. Food and drink on the islands was a bit more than the usual, but that’s OK – we are on vacation. Also, we felt completely safe during our excursions and really felt the people were there to cater to us. At the end of the day, even with the issues during dinner, we still had a fantastic time and surely enjoyed our cruise. The ports were awesome, the ‘good’ staff were awesome, the food was awesome… the whole experience is fantastic and so cost effective, we have already booked our next cruise for October!
