Our family of three took this cruise to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. We've cruised Disney and Royal Caribbean, and as good as this trip was, nothing beats Disney for us. I've read and heard mixed reviews on Carnival and booked with some trepidation. We had a blast, though, and we would definitely sail on the Breeze again.
We live in Central Florida and made the drive to Miami the same day in about four hours, with stops. Some have said finding the way to the port is a little challenging, but we found it pretty easy, and the weekend drive through Miami was definitely not as harrowing as it can be on a weekday. Originally we had chosen a parking lot downtown, but after having read multiple bad reviews, we parked at the port at a cost of $20 a day.
The porters do a good job of helping folks with their bags and moving them on, so traffic flows pretty smoothly at embarkation. Embarkation - not so much. Having four security lines to board over 4,000 passengers just makes no sense and took what seemed like forever when waiting in the hot sun. Check-in also took awhile, though they have plenty of agents working. Altogether I think it took about 90 minutes from baggage to boarding.
We had a balcony cabin on deck 6. There was space for the three of us, but thanks to my over packers we were a little squeezed with luggage - and that was with storage space under the bed. Next time we'll try to be on the spa deck or even the Lido. This would have been much more convenient given the amount of time we spent at the pool. Other than that, we liked it. It was mostly quiet except for the occasional noise from the college students getting rowdy in the hall at night.
