This was our first time on the Carnival Fantasy, we did a Royal Caribbean about 10 years ago. We live in Charleston, so we decided to try it out since it debarks from our hometown. I will start with the negatives. It is a smaller ship and therefore you feel the rocks and rolls when there are storms. There is only one dance club, geared toward the 20ish crowd. There was an excellent band on the Promenade Deck, but you had to stand in front of one of the casinos to listen to it. The cigarette smoke was horrible from the casino and the nearby bars. All the bars allow smoking. There is a comedy club, a karaoke club, and a great piano bar, but if you don't arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance begins, don't count on sitting down. Sunday night there was nothing going on except karaoke and it was like a can of sardines in the club. We finally left after an hour of standing. There are way too many photos being taken by the ship photographers. I was ready to yell if one more photographer got in my face. They take pictures CONSTANTLY. Every dinner there they were there, to the point of pure aggravation. A mouth full of food and they want us to smile. Carnival really needs to back off on the pictures. We decided to alleviate the cost of drinks by making some of our own. So we bought a bottle of rum, that was delivered to our room and the all you can drink soda pass for $32.00 each. You receive a cup that can be refilled at any bar with your favorite soft drink. The problem is, when the bartenders see you holding the glass, they tend to ignore you. They want the paying customers who buy the $8.00 drinks. The midnight buffet was a Mexican buffet with usual Mexican food. Nothing special.

Now the positive. The staff is awesome. They couldn't be more efficient and friendly. We ate in the dining room each evening and the food was very good. There are not a lot of all night munchie bars. I think pizza, burgers and hot dogs were available. There are a couple of small water slides, basically for the kids, and one pool which is pretty well packed during warm sunny days. A small putt-putt course. Lots of line dancing on the Lido Deck and you could learn a couple of the newest dances. Mostly current pop music. The best part was the Bahamas, it was gorgeous. Next time we will travel to Florida and take a larger ship and most likely another line.
