This was our first cruise. We decided, with the recommendation of Charlene, our AAA travel agent in Minneapolis. to do the D3C "Double Denali" sea/land tour and were not disappointed.
I was a bit concerned at first after reading some of the reviews about the Oosterdam a couple of weeks before our trip but have nothing bad to say, in fact, I found the ship, captain and crew to be outstanding!
This is a two part trip. First a sea cruise from Vancouver to Seward and then land tours via bus or rail through Denali and ending in Fairbanks.
Holland America takes care of their guests. You and your luggage will not fear of getting missed or lost.
Outstanding stateroom stewards, great food, outstanding scenery and in our case, good weather.
Probably there was not a critter we didn't see. Saw feeding humpbacks, Orcas, Grizzlys, otters, eagles, seals, i could go on and on. Take a look at their website and you will see what is possible.
Best bet is to choose the land side (starboard) for view of land on northbound cruise. Veranda gives a chance to be outside with good privacy rather share observation deck.Stateroom attendants making sure you had no needs and cabin was spotless.Up towards bow give opportunity to see dolphins riding the ships wake.
