Do not cruise on this ship until Windstar has totally updated and repaired this ship, which as the crew told us all needs to be done in dry dock. In brief, the physical plant is deplorable. It is our strong opinion the Xanterra group who took ownership of this ship earlier this year made a poor strategic decision to commission this slightly remodeled vessel realizing the ship was not ready to meet a majority of its customers' expectations. We heard from another cruiser who was also aboard Star Pride's maiden voyage in May that some of the new owners were aboard that sailing. From this same cruiser we learned the ship suffered from basically all of the same ill repair on this maiden voyage as we experienced. Hence, these owners were very aware of its condition. There are plumbing issues. the water in our stateroom shower was black every time we started our shower. We never got hot water in our sink. This was very disconcerting, especially when we demanded someone explain to us after 3 days of complaining, we were told whatever the problem it was not resolvable. This issue continued for the nine days. We are in process of detailing all the facts to the Senior group at Xanterra, and this will include further specifics and pictures of the issues. But in general the pool was dirty the entire trip, jacuzzis worked intermittently, the ship is rusted, with chipped paint everywhere, the main viewing area, the Yacht Club on the ship, while was renovated had the original windows whose seals were broken, fogged and dirty . Staterooms were only minimally renovated but not to any passengers expectations, based on WindStar's own marketing presentations of this ship. Awnings which cover most of the amenity decks were filthy. An easy fix would have been to merely replace deck chairs and loungers with new, but these were aged with chipped paint and sagging seating. In brief a very poor impression and experience. The wifi was only available for an exorbitant cost, the entire crew was complaining of this lack of amenity. And the Spa area was not touched in the renovation so you never felt pampered there. Senior officers were unavailable for comment, but the only saving grace for Windstar on this ship was the Dining and Food Services crew. They were professional, caring and accommodating. And the food was really good and diverse. We were a group of six, a majority of which had sailed on Windstar before, but not one of us will sail this line again. And the most profound reason for our disappointment is that such a reputable organization as Xanterra would make the strategic decision to launch this ship in its current condition. In conclusion, this ship is marketed as a high end "yacht experience" it is more like a "tramp steamer"
