A couple of things, we are a married couple in our early 40s. This was our first cruise and we live in Seattle. We Ubered down to the pier in about 30 minutes. We arrived around 11:35 am. The check in process was really fast but where to leave your bags was confusing and chaotic. You kind of just throw your bags onto a cart being pulled by dudes. You just had to have faith that your bags were delivered to your room.

Walking onto the ship, you receive a glass of champagne (very nice) and you kind of just roam around the ship until you can get into your room. (I think this was around 1 or 2 pm). The Buffet (Ocean View was open) and we went there later since it was pretty chaotic. We headed up to the top of the ship and the lawn on the Solstice is pretty cool but it seemed pretty useless. (I think the space could be better used). I don't think in the 7 days, we did anything on the lawn and after a while you kind of forget about it. The ship is pretty nice and it's huge. It didn't feel crowded (except certain times such as the Buffet when everyone is arriving for the first time). There are lots of places to hang out and relax and not deal with any people. You just need to roam and get a feel for the ship. The ships seemed pretty new and the only wear and tear I noticed on the ship was the wood hand railings but other than that for 6 year old ship, it looked pretty new and didn't seem dated at all.

Once we got into the room, a bottle of champagne was waiting for us. We had 2 bags and one of our bags showed up quickly but the other bag didn't show up for like 2 hours. (Really weird since they were on the same cart). You start to stress when one bag is missing which is not a nice way to start out on a cruise. We kept bugging the Cabin Steward since you would look out in the hallway and see the other rooms with all their bags or at least multiple bags. Maybe we were just stressing too much on this.

AquaClass 1

Cabin A1

There was no direct obstruction from our room but the window washing apparatus was parked in the next room 1551 or maybe 1549. There was also some type of fold out on the overhang outside of 1551. If you are sitting on the left chair (facing outwards), you will see the washing apparatus. If you are looking straight, you won't see it. Looking down from the veranda, you can see the life boats. This wasn't an issue for me.The issue with deck 11 is that you have all the supporting beams holding the deck above us so you can't get a panoramic view (mid ship rooms). Also, with the overhang, you can look up so when the ship was in Tracy Arm, you couldn't look up onto the cliffs. The deck's size was normal and I didn't see any issues. We didn't have any noise problems. It was pretty quiet. The room is on the port side towards the front side of mid-ship so you are very close the elevators and the stairs. You can also use the secret stairs to get to the relaxation lounge and the fitness center. The elevators will also take you straight down to the Solstice Theater and straight up to the Sky Lounge. The bad news is everything else is on the back end of the ship. It is a long walk to all the restaurants and to the coffee shop.
