We traveled on the Adventure of the Seas out of San Juan on February 4, 2007. We arrived a day ahead and stayed at the Radisson Ambassador Plaza. We had a large room with a balcony looking towards the ocean a block away. There was a great Mexican restaurant called Tijuanna nearby where we had dinner and several places to choose from for breakfast. RCI and the hotel were very organized with the luggage. We left ours with the bellhop early in the morning and walked around the area before returning for the bus to the pier. We arrived at the pier at 1:15 and were on board in fifteen minutes, it couldn't have been faster or easier. There were two lines on the left for passengers who's luggage was collected by RCI and one line on the right for people arriving on their own with their luggage. That line was barely moving as priority was given to the others who had paid for the transfers.

Once onboard we were totally amazed by the ship. It was incredibly large and just fabulous, the pictures didn't do it justice. Our cabin was very nice and conveniently located to the elevators and stairways. We were on Deck 10, just behind the bridge which was a very quiet and still area of the ship. Just one thing of note, if your cabin has an adjoining door to its neighbor there is only a chair and not a sofa. Not that it mattered because most of the little time we spent in our cabin was spent on the balcony. The balcony was wonderful! We slept with the door open to hear the waves and could just open our eyes at dawn to watch land appear as we arrived at new ports. We had breakfast there most mornings and you can't beat ending your day out there under the stars. A balcony is a must!

We were so grateful to have gotten one of only twelve tables for two in the dining room and ate there every night. The food was wonderful and the service even better. We chose the early sitting and were glad we did because there was so much to do in the evenings. The dining room was also great for breakfast and for lunch on sea days. We didn't eat in the Portofino and only went into the Windjammer twice. Everyone else seemed to enjoy the food there but it was lacking in fresh salads and vegetables and the desserts were just too tempting. Johnny Rockets was great and we liked the light fare available at the Cafe Promenade during the day. Thank goodness for the size of the ship because we needed to do laps around the decks to wear off the food. We each purchased the soda and juice package which was well worth it to us. There is no need to use the insulated container that comes with the package, we put ours right into the suitcase. You can order soda and juice anywhere on the ship at anytime and get it in glasses.
