I am actually still aboard the ship awaiting disembarkement. For the most part, we enjoyed the cruise Our room attendant and wait staff was friendly, professional and helpful . On our last evening on the ship, we went to settle our bill. We realized they had charged us twice for rental of the snorkel equipment on Great Stirup Cay. We were sent to the excursion desk to rectify the issue. We were greeted by a red headed lady who was the excursion desk manager. She proceeded to go the back and check our paper work. Whilel awaiting her return, 2 other couples approached the desk in regards to double charging and not being informed that renting fins and snorkel equipment was $32.90 not $13.90 as I was told. After 10 mins the execursion desk manager returned only to ask us what our room # was again as she had forgotten. Another 30 mins passes as the couple behind us was offered 3 updates on what the staff was working on, we received no update and when I attempted to ask one of the staff, Hispanic male proceeded to say under his breath in Spanish - Here she comes to another person . Problem is though Im African American and I speak fluent spanish and knew what he said. I addressed it immediately as he continued to cut me off not allowing me to finish my sentence and ask for a courtesy update. Then asked me if I was with the gentleman whom I had been sitting there with for the last 40 mins (my caucasian husband). What that had to do with anything I have no idea? Finally the desk manager finally returned and explained that they had been unable to pull up our account because the computers" werent talking to each other." When I told her how rude the other staff member had been when I asked for an update she said " We could hear you thru the wall".If she could in fact here me thru the wall then why didnt anyone come out and give us an upate as we requested. I then attempted to report the incident to the social manager who was off duty on the night before disembarkation another woman took the grievance and set up an 8:15am appointment with the Excursion desk director. I just left speaking with her. she was 15 mins late for our appointment. and remained unaplogetic for the manner in which 3 of her staff conducted themselves. Towards the end of the conversation, she finally offered a forced disenguious apology and the last straw was when she said she was also in the back last night with the rest of her unprofessional staff looking thru the paperwork and yet she did not come out and attempt to diffuse the situation at any point. In essence I missed a show I wanted to catch and participate in in the black and white room. Never received a sincere apology for the unprofessional manner in which we were addressed and dismissed . The last 45 mins of this cruise on my 5th wedding anniversary is what I will remember about this cruise.

The entertainnment staff was very entertaining. The shows were good howevever the dancer that plays the lead role as MJ in the tribute was so "extra" during the other performances that it distracted away from the show. He was skilled however either his team needs to increase thier energy level to match his or he may need to take his energy level down a little. The food was repetitive. The orange juice paid or free was HORRIBLE. The excursions were exorbant in price. The pools are all salt water (clever and envrionmentally great) however after awhile the salt burns your eyes and skin. The hot tubs wer clorinated. Im extremely dissapointed that the people who cleaned my room and took my plate were more professional than the entire excrusion desk. I will be making a formal complaint regar4ding the incident again to whomever is over the staff training.. Due to the last 45 mins of my trip and interaxtion with "upper management", I will not be recommending MSC cruise to any of my firneds, familiy, collegues or employeees. 3 people undid the entire trip in 45 mins. I also agree with a previous reveiw that the olfd fashion way of giving tips based on performance is the way to go. I enjoyed the MC and his cool British accent. P.S. my husband just came back again from trying to settle the bill. Be warned that they add an additional 15% gratuity and deny it but American Experss confirmed that they had charged 15% above what we authorized them to take. AMEX told us they never saw any transaction ran or decline and that we had enough balance to cover the payment . The receptions staff told us there was a security hold becuase of being in international that had to removed. AMEX confirmed this as completely untrrue and the card was used in Mexico and can be used internationally. For a company that cares about family, its sad to say that The upper management and reception staff taking payment DO NOT CARE and are SERIOUSLY LACKING IN GUEST SERVICE. THE LEVEL OF DISMISSIVE BEHAVIOUR WAS ASTOUNDING.
