Sail Date: Aug 2014

Sailed on the Regal Princess on August 18th from Barcelona. Embarkation was quick and easy. Entered the ship on the 6th floor in the Piazza, breathtaking. The ship is truly elegant. Our mini-suite was excellent, well appointed, balcony was sufficient for two but no more. Have been on several cruises however this was our first Mediterranean and first on Princess. The biggest plus was the ship, truly elegant, great touches everywhere. Others have mentioned problems with the elevators, etc., not a huge issue. We had traditional dinning at 8:15 pm in the Allegro dinning room, the only challenge is that you must access it using the 7th floor even though it is at the rear of the 6th floor, overall, no big issue given that you are on vacation in the Med. Dinning overall was very good although we were disappointed on a few nights in the dinning room when the food was just OK. The Horizon Court and Bistro are well laid out. Only on a few occasions did they seem crowded.

The entertainment in the theatre was very good, enjoyed several shows. The entertainment in the Piazza seems geared to an older crowd, could be a little bit more upbeat. Tried Club 6 a few times but it was generally empty. The one deck party was popular.

Took a shore excursion in each port, enjoyed them all. Have read other reviews which indicated that there is not enough time in each port, well yes but this is a cruise after all, so your time is limited and therefore you have to plan in advance to ensure that you see the highlights. You could easily spend a week in Rome, Istanbul or Athens, so plan ahead. The only recommendation is when in Athens, I would skip the Temple of Poseidon, we took the excursion which included this, it takes 1 1/3 hours each way, given the limited time in Athens, unless this is a must, it eats up too much time. Had originally planned to cruise in September but went in August due to family constraints, expected it to be very hot and it was. Probably a little cooler and more comfortable in September. Would not recommend this cruise for persons with limited mobility as there excursions are long and most involve walking, many times on uneven ground.

Cabin Review

Very well appointed, roomy. Deck is sufficient for 2 persons but no more. Steward was very efficient.
