Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam on Viking Ingvi
Destination: Europe - River Cruise
Our Lake Geneva, Montreux stay was a great way to get acclimated to the 6-hour time change. Lovely hotel and area. Switzerland is beautiful. Transfer to Basel by bus was a great way to see more of the country. Upon arriving in Basel, we were welcomed aboard by a friendly and courteous staff and were invited to check in to our cabin with our baggage already there. Lots of storage space for everything. Then off to the Aquavit Terrace for a great lunch.
The boat was tastefully decorated in light colors and the full-length windows added to the brightness of the rooms and gave great views from any perspective.
Had a chance to walk around Basel before setting sail promptly at 5 PM. We also had time to explore the ship before dinner.
I would like to More point out that I am a bi-lateral, below-knee amputee with a vision impairment, so it goes to show that anyone can do a trip like this. Everyone on board (staff and passengers) was very helpful to
me and my wife, and made our trip very enjoyable. Our Program Director, Nick Hale, was a very personable individual and was definitely not afraid to mingle with the crowd.
The ports of call were very well conducted with excellent qualified guides from the region. The Vox headphones made the tours so much more enjoyable. The trip was made up of bucket-list dreams being fulfilled, from seeing cathedrals and castles, walking in the Black Forest, sitting in an outside cafe with a coffee and pastry, and experiencing the cobble-stone streets and touring a windmill in The Netherlands.
We enjoyed every minute of our trip. Great friendships have been formed during this experience of a lifetime. We look forward to another River Cruise on a Viking Longship. Could tell you more, but you should experience this for yourself.
