My wife and I have been on more than 30 cruises, most of them on Celebrity and Royal Caribbean with some Cunard, Disney and Princess thrown in. For the most part we have avoided the "fun ships" because of past not-so-great experiences. We went on this cruise to celebrate my brother and sister in laws 40th anniversary so the ship was not my choice. That said, it was better than expected. You must understand that this is a really ugly ship. I don't know what the designer was up to, but he really went out of his way to make it hideous. The theme is Italian Renaissance run amok. There are paintings of naked ladies everywhere. There are fake candelabras in the lounge areas reminiscent of Disney's Haunted Mansion. The ceilings are dark, making the already low ceilings seem lower. The atrium has hundreds of creepy Roman masks going up the walls. The main dining room is fortunately lighter and the store shops are probably the least offensive.

But after awhile the decor fades into the background. The positives include well prepared food, a really top notch specialty restaurant, pleasant staff, decent entertainment and comfortable beds. Our balcony cabin was adequate in size and had enough storage. The room steward was helpful, efficient, always pleasant. The excursion desk had decent hours and we did not experience any long lines. The wait staff were friendly and professional. The gym was one of the nicer areas on the ship, not one Roman mask or fake renaissance painting. This was not the "vacation of a lifetime," but it was an enjoyable week break.
