Sail Date: Mar 2014

We booked a last minute cruise on the MSC Divina because of a great special they ran in February for $249 pp balcony cabin. We even lucked out and got a cabin on the back of the ship - a first for us. We have cruised 12+ times over 38 years on several cruise lines but this was the first time with MSC. Reaching anyone at MSC by phone if you have a question is a slow process but if you email them they do get back to you within 24 on average.

When we arrived at the port we left our luggage right by the curb and entered the building. Within 30 minutes we were checked in, had received all of our documentation. We had our picture taken and were on the ship - by far the fastest embarkation I have ever experienced.

The food was average for all cruise lines anymore. Thirty years ago cruise lines were over the top when it came to food - and a midnight buffet happened every night. With the explosion of so many ships and newer cruise lines, along with how much larger the ships are today with so many more guests, the need and/or ability to provide spectacular meals has gotten lost. But, my feeling is that if you find something you like then get two of it and you should be happy. Every meal I'm served on the ship is one less i have to make and clean up after at home. We certainly did not starve while on board.

Cabin Review

Our stateroom on the back of the ship was beautiful and had adequate storage with plenty of space under the bed to store suitcases. The balcony on the back of the ship was by far much larger than those on the side cabins. Also, being on the back of the ship eliminates a huge amount of traffic going past the cabin on their way to their own cabin or the elevator or steps. It was just really quiet back there, so now we are spoiled! Joe, our room steward, was rarely seen but our room was always spotless.
