We booked our cruise well in advance to get a good balcony room. After we had the cruise almost paid for and the airline paid for they decided to drop the best port from the cruise, Ketchikan. We either had to loose our vacation or just take the change. They gave us $50 credit, but that did not make up for it. We have cruised with Carnival on 4 other destinations. The first one was the best. They had the midnight buffet with all the cut up fruit and a gorgeous table setting, The food was great on both the buffet and dining room. On the 3rd cruise they dropped the midnight buffet. We were really disappointed. Over the years we have seen the quality of the food go down and the price of the excursions go up.
This trip finally broke me from sailing with Carnival. The breakfast buffet was not very good. The best thing was the omelet bar because it was made fresh, The rest was the same thing every day. They didn't even try to change things up each day like before. The bacon was always greasy and the pancakes were always cold. Lunch was a little better but again not much change or flavor. The sandwich bar was the best thing, again because it was made fresh. The dinners in the dinning room were definitely better I thought, but the rest of my group didn't like it. The dining staff were excellent though. We enjoyed going to dinner to see them each night. I cant complain about the ship staff, always friendly and kept the ship clean. The shows were loud and not very good. The excursions were extremely costly. Overall we were very disappointed with this vacation. The money we spent for 8 people for this cruise could have gone to a much better vacation somewhere else.
I cannot complain about the cabin. The balcony room was comfortable. The view was very nice from the balcony. Our cabin steward was great and kept the room very clean.
