My husband Peter and I set sail from Basel (a very cute little town that we fell in love with) and went down (or up) the Rhine. The cruise was so much more then we expected. The crew was great, the food excellent, the tours perfect and we plan on another cruise (this time on the Danube) next May.
I cannot speak too highly of the crew. From the captain to the cleaning staff not one person was ever rude or ignored any request. Viking has a very well organized product with the river cruises and their every day operation. Never once was anyone I saw (traveler or crew) in a bad mood. We loved the idea of not so many people (as travelers) which made it all the more enjoyable.
Cabin Review
The cabin was clean----it was comfortable, it was pleasant. The maid staff were great (as was the whole crew)I enjoyed opening the door and looking out at the river and the places we were passing. I even sat at night and enjoyed the sailing, which was never "choppy". Each time I see a commercial about the river cruises I, again, remember the wonderful time my husband and I spent on the Rhine.
