Let me begin by saying the Norwegian Getaway vacation was chosen by my senior parents who cruise nearly monthly for our large extended family. Both my husband and I had cruised before and never been really impressed. Needless to say we had reservations. As it turns out there was no need to worry.

The boarding process was smooth, pretty much like boarding a plane. There were about 40 people in our party (it was an extended family vacation) and it took probably about 30 minutes from check in to our cabin.

The Getaway is a beautiful ship. My husband, two children and I shared a balcony cabin on the 10th floor. The cabins are an avg size for a cruise ship (small) however; there was plenty of space to put away our luggage under the bed and in the closet. There was room for clothes in the drawers under the couch which doubled as bunk beds for my kids. Our cabin steward was attentive. She kept our room clean and left towel animals and cupcakes for the kids. Also, she always had a smile on her face. My husband and I ended each night sitting on the balcony. I read some criticisms about the balcony being small but, I would say that there was ample room for both of us. I want to point out that the ship is extremely clean and hygienic.
