Sail Date: May 2014

We booked a last minute holiday on the Thomson dream in May for a relaxing break. We arrived at the port and all was well, boarding smooth, staff entertaining and welcoming. The room which was an inside cabin was very poorly decorated, the light rattled all the time, towels etc very dull and tired, holes in pillow cases and stained sheets, bed hard and uncomfortable so no sleep for the first night. We managed at a price to upgrade our cabin but this was only a little better. The whole ship seemed to rattle all the time we were sailing and the ship was in a very tired state.

On sailing at sea days there was a lack of sun loungers and when you did manage to find one you would get covered in black soot from the funnel. The staff were wonderful and the food in the restaurant was very good although by the end of the holiday the food quality had gone down a little. We chose to eat in the restaurant for every meal as the buffet was not that inviting. The food was bland and not much choice and there was not a lot of space to move around.

The shows were good and the cruise director was excellent. We have cruised many times before on other ships, not Thomson though and we certainly will not be sailing with them again. If this had been my first experience cruising then I would be put off for life. The drinks were a reasonable price which I think may have accounted for the behaviour of fellow passengers?? very loud and no consideration for anyone else around them. Plenty of excursions on offer and the ports we visited was very pleasing with plenty of time given to look around. Again staff very helpful in every area of the ship.
