This was my husband and mine's third cruise. Our first two were on Royal Caribbean out of Port Canaveral, on the Mariner of the Seas and Grandeur of the Seas. It had been about 7 years since the last cruise. I have no idea why we waited so long, because we enjoyed ourselves, but nonetheless we did. So, this year when it was time to think about a vacation we decided that since for the first time it was going to be just the two of us, we would go back on a cruise. I had a 2 week window to work with because my boss was on vacation, and we wanted to go out of Baltimore because it's about a 2 1/2 hour drive for us as opposed to flying to Florida. So, our choices were either Grandeur of the Seas or Carnival Pride. We went with the Carnival Pride only because the timing worked better with our schedule, to leave on a Sunday as opposed to a Friday. I had heard lots of stories about Carnival being a party ship, but our travel agent assured us things are different and we would have fun. She said the food was better on Carnival than Royal Caribbean now as well, so we went with Carnival.

Can I just say - it truly was the best vacation we've ever gone on! Everything, from the drive up there, embarkation, our cabin steward JoQuan (sp?), our head waiter Cloudie (sp?), EVERYONE was so nice!!! We had paid for an inside cabin but the week before we were able to upgrade at no charge for a balcony (with obstruction). The obstruction was a lifeboat, if we looked down...no big deal! We always had inside cabins before...we will NEVER go for anything less than a balcony now! There's just something about waking up to looking out and seeing the ocean...the stars, the sunrise, the sunset...beautiful!! We had plenty of space in our room and loved the fact that the "room fairies" came in twice a day or more and cleaned! We wish we could have taken them home with us!!

The entertainment was fantastic! We went to every single show they had except one, only because we were tired that night. The comedy was outstanding, both family and adult shows! We loved Calvyn our cruise director, Pickles and Trent! The food was great, whether it was in the Normandie or Mermaid's Grille! There was so much to do...and we did as much as we could but still missed out on doing a lot of the activities. We loved days at sea, and spent them overlooking the pool and watching the "hairy chest contest" or line dancing. There was just always something going on!!

Cabin Review

Our cabin was great! We had plenty of room, plenty of storage space, and we LOVED having a balcony!
