1st Royal Caribbean Cruise

Sail Date: July 2014
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
Overall it was a great cruise. I was concerned with the size and number of people on this ship, but with so much to do everywhere, it did not seem crowded at all. There was always lots going on.

Our biggest disappointment was with the food. It was very bland and poor quality. The only night we raved about our meal was when we ate at the non-free Chops Grille. That was amazing!! We don't know if the quality of the food was because of the sheer volume of people they had to serve, or if it was their way to GET you to pay the extra money for the specialty restaurants. In the dining room, the serving sizes were also pathetic. One night, I ordered the lobster ravioli. 4 chef boy ardee sized ravioli. Desserts were unimpressive as well.

Our favorite things about the ship was the great gym facility, and we could always find deck chairs! We did not get a chance to try everything or everywhere. Our teenagers had fun. One enjoyed the teen scene at night, the other did not. The More best show was Blue Planet. Chicago was a snoozer!

Royal Caribbean also did a fantastic job getting us on and off the ship with no waiting. Less

This was a great room for the location. Easy access to everywhere on ship, close to elevators and quiet! We had Duvall for our room attendant who was the best!!

Port and Shore Excursions

Dolphin Swim & Encounter

Wish we had more time with the dolphins! Got suckered into buying all the photos for $135.00 - since they were $40 each! Best part was we could get back to the ship when we wanted to. Had a great time in port at Senor Frogs!

Scuba - Certified

Great dive. A little scary as you are in a busy area with lots of boats overhead and you drift with the current.

Horseback Riding

This was a long excursion since their was no shuttles until everyone had completed the tour. The 1st part of the ride is on very dry, unexciting land. It said a sugar plantation, which it may have been years ago? The second part of the ride was in the ocean with the horses. This was the most fun, but beware - the horses poop a lot in the water and is kind of gross. The best part about the adventure was our tour guide "The Sheriff". He made it fun. I thought my kids would enjoy this more than the falls. I wish we had done the falls.

BBQ lunch was very good, being that the ship food was not the best. We only hung out on the beach and went para sailing. My kids did not like the shops outside of the artisans village since they were very aggressive to get you into their shops.
