Booked 2 cabins on lido deck/ adjoining balconies for 2 late 50's couples. Drove to the port from NJ, and parked at the cruise terminal.. Expensive but extremely easy to give the porter our bags and off to the check in lines. Our cousin's are platinum on carnival so we just tagged along and avoided the madhouse check in lines...However, it would appear many people are priorty and with tag alongs, so we waited awhile. The cruiseline did send emails earlier in the week telling us not to come prior to 1:30PM, but we were on the ship prior to that time. Cabins (9284) were a nice size with good storage. The beds were comfortable, balcony nice..Bathroom had continuous backups in the shower, and a room next to us had sewage backups the first night..Evidently our plumbing line was fouled..Showere never did drain well. Stewarde was extremely accomodating and pleasant, and seemed to clean well.

The Splendor has a dearth of pools for the number of passengers.. we had no problem with poolside chairs, but many strolled down 10-11am and couldnt get chairs pool;side at the adult pool. There were plenty of chair hoarders, but the crew had a deck officer to liberate those chairs after 40 minutes, so others could utilize the chairs..seem to work well..We just wake up early anyway...

the food was very mediocre. I am on vacation, whats with ll these buffet lines?? Limited choices, no lox unless you go to sit down breakfast every day..Omellete guys were good and friendly in the am. Lunches were poor, same salad choices and iceberg lettuce everyday, not so healthy choices..luckily we found the rotisserie one deck up and had very good chicken every day with salad. Seem to be limiting the pineapple in the fruit salads..had to ask for more...Dinners were disappointing...everything fried, frozen or with a sauce. Service was not as attentive or friendly as on other cruiselines. We tried the Pinnacle steakhouse and the food was good, delivery and service not so good..I thought I was at a diner in new jersey..
