  3. Carnival Breeze

My husband and I just got back from our third cruise aboard the Carnival Breeze and overall the cruise was just okay. I will start from the beginning...

We had been granted priority check in and did so around 11:30. We were told that our room would be ready by 12:30. We immediately passed through security and had to wait in a pre-boarding room until 1:30 in the afternoon. Apparently the boat had arrived late to port and some of prior guests did not disembark until around 12 pm. So our cruise started out with a long wait. I guess we should have realized at that point but we had high hopes for vacation because we have loved our past cruises!

We decided to carry on our own luggage, we always do, just because it takes the crew so long to get you bags to you. I'm glad that we did because another guest did not get their bag returned to them until a few days into the cruise, yikes!

Our room was a good size. The balcony was great! Our steward was pretty decent too. Our room was always clean and he was also so polite while greeting us both by our first name. He also kept our soda, water and wine ice cold all week! A nice perk to our vacation! On the down side our room was soo hot at night. My husband sweated all night and we did not even use the covers. It was just too hot. While walking up and down the stairs you could feel the heat difference between deck 7 and 8 by at least a 10 degree increase.

The food was so/so. It was typical Carnival Cruise food. Best idea is to skip the buffet if you are looking for a good meal. Guy burgers are always great! Blue Iguana Burritos, delicious!! The dinning room has a decent menu but the service was just so slow. Plan to spend at least an hour and a half to two hours at dinner. We have experienced a much better service team in past cruises.

The cruise ship was totally booked so if you did not get to cruise events at least 20 minutes prior to the start, forget getting a seat. We ended up skipping the comedy club the entire cruise, just because we could not get a seat. We always love the comedy club too :(

And if you are not a huge fan of the kid crowd, skip this cruise. There are only two pools and they are packed with kids!! In past cruises we could always count on the adult pool for a relaxing cocktail pool side. Forget it. Plan on waiting forever for the elevators, or just take the stairs. The kids must have hit every button, on every floor, on every elevator. Where the heck were their parents?? (Casino Maybe?)

And one last thing, according to other guests, some guests on a deck above us got a hold of some illegal substance and we got held up at disembarkation, yet again, by about 45 minutes. Apparently their rooms were being searched....? Kind of unusual from our past Carnival experiences.

Overall the cruise was just okay

  • Cozumel

We took a cab to Mr. Sancho's. It was nice. Free beach, restrooms, pools. We ordered a few beers and lunch and just hung by the beach. It was only a $16 cab ride.

We followed our tour guide on jet skis to stingray sandbar, then on to snorkel, then on to star fish point. He was safe, knowledgeable, and completely of service to our every need.

I was afraid but our tour guide was amazing. He let us hold, pet and feed the stingrays. He was very knowledgeable.

  • Dunn's River Falls

Dunn's Falls was pretty cool. My husband got tired of it about half way through. $40 for a video seems too high for what was. And BEWARE, do not touch anything that you do not want to buy (especially on the way out). They will make you pay for anything you touch or sign up for! We will skip this tour next time.

Blue Hole was amazing!! It is a must see! Our guide, Omar was really a sweet kid! He was helpful, careful and stood by our side the entire time. You will enjoy every minute of the experience, it is beautiful. Wear water shoes and shorts. Go to The Blue Hole and ask for Omar! And give Omar a nice tip too!! He deserves it!
