Sail Date: Jun 2014

We sailed from Southampton to Norway,Iceland ,the Faroes and Orkneys on P&O Oriana. The choice of ports of call was great with each port different to the others.Norway was stunning with Olden and Alesund the stops.Olden in particular was beautiful in the sunshine.Iceland was different again, more rugged, colder and windswept .The stop in Isafordur was cancelled because of high winds and stormy seas but the captain took us completely clockwise around the island to Reykjavik giving us close views of the largest glacier in Europe, first class and a fitting replacement to Isafordur.Reykjavik and Akureyi were great stops, very scenic but very windy. Finally the Faroes and the Orkneys were suprisingly lovely, once again the sun shone and it was pleasantly warm.

The embarkation at Southampton was good taking about 30 minutes. The food and service in the Oriental Restaurant was first class and we could find no faults with it.Drink prices were very reasonable compared to other cruise lines.£3.50p for a pint of Old speckled Hen.There's a good indoor cinema onboard playing all the latest films, great for bad weather days and the tv channels were quite good in the cabins although the tiny tv's were not good for holding your attention .The evening entertainment was good with the theatre company giving great musical performances..Our cabin was kept clean as was the rest of the ship and for a 19 year old cruise ship it is in very good condition. The only fault we could find was the buffet in the conservatory where it was impossible to find a seat.Twice i left trays of food and left the restaurant after ten minutes of walking around looking for seating.People really must move on after they have finished their meals to give others a seat.We saw people reading books and chatting with no food in front of them. All in all a very good experience and we look forward to using P&O again in the future

Cabin Review

The cabin was good and kept very clean and tidy but we found it a bit on the small side compared to other cruise lines although our cabin had a bath fitted which is unusual for that grade of cabin.Another plus was that our window was cleaned during the voyage.Quite often it is not good visibility on outside cabins due to seaspray and mould growth.
