Sail Date: Jun 2014

My husband and I sailed on Golden out of Seattle on 7 day inside passage cruise to Alaska. We loved it!!

We flew in night before, stayed at doubletree suites close to airport. Takes alot of stress out of trip. We then took Seattle express (12.00pp) to pier and it took about an hour to get on board. Very pleased with our shuttle. Princess employees all so happy to see you, and once we took off they got everyone in a good mood with singing and dancing on Lido deck. We just grabbed a quick bite to eat in the International cafe because we knew we were eating our evening meal at 5:30. We did traditional seating, and sat with a nice group of people every night. The rest of the time we did the buffet or international cafe. Both were excellent!! We were mostly on time for all ports, and didn't hear of any cancelations of excursions. First stop Juneau, Hubby went on salmon fishing, great for him, only caught one fish, but had great time, I just walked around town, and went up the Mountain on the gondola. It was a georgous weather day, so views were stunning. On the glacier viewing day we paid 60.00pp to be in the Sanctuary. It was very nice, but the decks weren't crowded at all for viewing so could have done it all on the decks. We got pampered with our own chairs and blankets, pillows , and food. Skagway was foggy, rainy, we choose to ride up to white pass in a mini van. All socked in with fog, but what can you do? Saw a little, but not much. By the time we got back to ship, weather all cleared up. Weather in Kitchikan was great, did a duck boat tour, then walked around town. Last stop Victoria weather was again nice, we choose to stay on ship, and just relax. Heard the gardens were beautiful. That's what most people did. Food was very good, everyone happy, mixture of people, babies to older generation, seemed to all be having a good time. Lots of good entertainment, magician, very good!! Commedian so so. Very good piano player at night. We just had a standard room mid ship, never got seasick. deck 11. Room had comfortable bed, and always clean. Used the room service for coffee every morning. Always on time. Played trivia games, and went to activities we were interested in. Always something going on. Watched a couple of movies in our room, never did movies under the stars. We decided we would do princess again , maybe same ship. There was a naturalist on board, and when we did glacier viewing they brought park rangers on board to explain stuff. Saw wildlife, but not up close. Whales, sea lions plentiful. But not real close to ship. Bear was spotted but very far away. Getting off ship went fast and well. We chose a later time, since we had an afternoon flight. Next time we would do early walk off carrying our own luggage and book earlier flight home.
