Majestic Majesty

Sail Date: June 2014
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Corfu
Just returned yesterday from a 2 week cruise doing the Adriatic Explorer and then Italian Flavours. We would thoroughly recommend the itinerary. We have been on several other Thomson cruises over the past few years, but this was our first time on the Majesty.

The ports are on the whole, quite beautiful and many are easy to just walk off and 'potter around'. We booked three excursions and I would definitely recommend the trip to Erice in Sicilly. The views are stunning. Also the 'Bella Vista' trip in Corfu which also features fantastic views and a cute half hour boat trip around a little bay. (Please note: we paid extra for the boat trip - 7 euros - but it was well worth it). We also booked the 'Secret Corners' trip around Venice as we didn't want to waste time queuing for the water taxis. Our guide was very informative and I'm sure we saw places that we would have missed if we had gone into Venice independently.

Booking in was efficient, despite a long queue, and our More luggage was at our cabin door within 15 minutes.

We felt the atmosphere on board was warm and welcoming. Our cabin stewards were very friendly and kept our cabin spotless.

We ate in the Four Seasons restaurant and our waiters could not do enough for us. For example we asked for extra gravy one evening and therefore every time one of our party ordered a roast style dinner extra gravy appeared at the table. The food was excellent and the staff made us feel 'special'. At lunchtime we ate at the grill area near the pool and the food was hot and fresh.

The only downside was that we thought Thomson had cut down on the amount of bar staff, as occasionally it was difficult to get served. The staff were always apologetic, but were clearly run off their feet at times.

We enjoyed the shows in the Jubilee Lounge and despite being a party of six we always managed to get seats. The show team are the best we have seen and are very talented.

On the whole we really enjoyed our holiday and although we have tried other cruise lines we keep coming back to Thomson as it feels a bit like coming home! As people have discussed before on Cruise Critic, Thomson ships may not have the glamour and glitz of some of the larger ships, but the staff are genuinely friendly and seem to really want you to have a wonderful holiday.

If you have already booked a holiday on the Majesty - relax, you will have a great time! Less
