Nice Ship

Sail Date: June 2014
Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean
Embarkation: Palma de Mallorca
Arrived in Palma after a good flight from Gatwick 30 mins late no problem really, got a coach to the harbour to board the ship.First impressions were good plenty of hand gel being dished out which is always nice to see, Shown to our cabin No 9008 on Deck 9 which was larger than we expected plenty of wardrobe space and nice size bathroom , headed for the Lido bar and restaurant for lunch and a well earned drink. We were on a prepaid drinks package which we purchased with Thomsons when we booked the cruise got a good deal £69 each for the week it was good value.Breakfast and lunch we had in Sirens which we liked the atmosphere of.We dined in the Orion in the evening usually just after 7 on the Captains night we had to wait a long time between courses due people dining at the sme time do not know what can be done about this as all the waiters were working flat out so it was no fault of theirs , lots of bars to choose from on deck 8 all good but like some people say you may have yo More wait a little bit to be served sometimes, but all the crew and staff were very good and friendly from the officers down to the cleaners who you always see about the ship cleaning hand rails. The ship was quiter than we expected and sometimes it was hard to tell if you were moving and the good weather we had meant there was no rough crossings to the different Ports. Our favourite ports of call were Sorrento where we have been before,We went to the Foreigners club that overlooks the harbour so you see the ships anchored in the bay also a nice view of Vesuvius inthe back ground this is also tourist centre go through the office to bar and restaurant that is out the back .If you have been to Rome before can recommend the trip to Tuscania and wine not to get it muddled up with Tuscany as it is not in Tuscany but on the borders of it,it is a lovely old village and after you go for a Italian style meal in a farm house, you had wine with the meal and it was nice and informal enjoyed the meal greatly.Cavi in Corsica was also a charming port with nice restaurants round the marina and a walk up to the Citadel is well worth the effort.. Did not go a lot on Olbia in Sardinia not very pretty place and the museum was closed on the Monday so could not visit it.Back on the ship must give a mention to our cabin steward Dewa who was always there with a smile and made time to talk to you always called us by our names nothing was too much trouble for him. Also upstairs in the Broadway theatre Cel one of the bar staff was a good laugh she had a good manner about her calling the men Daddy and the women Mummy which made you feel special. The British comedy entertainer Fogwell Flax was excellant on both his shows which just goes to show you can do comedy without swearing and being rude, well done Fogwell other shows good well done Thomson team.Nice having double seats in theatre but get there early to make sure no pillars in the way not much you can do about that.Over all the ship was very nice and friendly looked like a cruise ship should not a floating block of flats.Would sail on the dream again Less
