My first and last cruise on Holland America. This was my 16th cruise and the worst of all my cruises. The food was awful. Under seasoned, tough, dry - you name it - they hit it. Not much variety to choose from and it all looked great - until you started to eat it. Shrimp cocktail looked good until you tried the shrimps that were soggy and tasteless. The lobster - had no meat and what there was was tough. Some people complained that their lobsters were loaded with green gook - mine was not - but it seemed they had removed most of the tail meat before bringing it. My Baked Alaska was only cake and meringue - no icecream, my fruit crumble was all crumble & tiny fruit - and the lemon pie had no taste of lemon at all. We ended up only having Ice cream every night.
Most of the service was not good at all - the staff was Indonesian and did not speak English. You had to point to what you wanted - and ask for everything - like the butter for the lobster, cream for your coffee (which you could only have with desert).
Staff seemed to have priority over guests as they used our buffet and elevators. You would have to wait for the next elevator as the staff was occupying it - and wait behind them in the buffet line. There were 2 sides to the buffet but one side was for the employees and we were told we could not sit there (even tho they were sitting on our side). Their side only had Asian food and our side had a variety- tho not very tasty or much choices.
Nice cabin. roomy enough to walk comfortably in front of the bed. Had a bath tub/jacuzzi - which was relaxing. Full size couch and table & chair - with stool for makeup mirror area.Balcony large enough for a chez lounge , 2 chairs and a table - with walking around space and a swing out door - not sliding.Toilets were very noisy tho - could hear others flushing in the night.
