My husband and I started cruising out of Long Beach in the 90's while we were still dating. We have been on several lines and cruised many times. This is my first and last cruise with Norwegian and my first cruise review. We traveled with our 10 year old boy and 12 year old daughter and 16 other family members. Planning meals and excursions made our vacation more work than fun. We had a cabin on the 9th floor with a very small bathroom and small balcony. We could not enjoy the balcony because our neighbors smoked most of the trip. If we left the balcony door open, the smoke would drift into our cabin. Smokers were everywhere. Trying to avoid the smoke from the casino in the middle of the ship was a joke. I worried the smoke might trigger wheezing for my asthmatic son. I was not prepared for the number of times we ran into someone smoking right next to us.

We started planning this trip in January of 2014. Our cruise consultant had very little experience with this cruise and could offer little guidance about meal planning and excursion planning. I did purchase dinning ahead as well as reserve shows. We all hated Illusionarium. We were crammed into a back booth, we could not hear or see well and our food was cold and bland. Because our group was so big, we ended up changing our reservations for shows and meals. We scheduled an early show for Legally Blond mid week. When we arrived in our cabin on the first day, we received a letter stating the schedule had been changed and now our show time was 10 pm the last night. I was packing at 10 pm the last night and my kids were passed out after spending four hours at the Atlantis water park.

Accommodating 20 people for dinner required someone making reservations ahead of time at Tropicana or Taste and Savor. We only managed to eat together as a group twice. The best "free dinner" was Tropicana and we liked breakfast, lunch or dinner at O'Sheehan's. The wings mild or hot were terrible. We tried the sushi and noodle bars. Noodle bar is close to the Casino and we could smell the smoke. The Tempanaki restaurant was our best meal. The service was the best on the ship and the extra price worth the meal.

Cabin Review

This cabin felt cramped. No outlet in bathroom for hair dryer. We could smell cigarette smoke in our cabin if the sliding glass door was open. Bunk beds were hard.
