Sail Date: Jan 2014

We left San Diego, CA on January 20, 2014 and docked in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on February 4, 2014. Ports of call were Cabo San Lucas &, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, then cruised through the Panama Canal stopping in Colon, Panama, then Cartagena, Colombia. Trip included 7 sea days, weather was wonderful and seas were very smooth...we experienced only one evening of slightly rough seas that rocked us to sleep.

The ship, Celebrity Century, was put into service in 1995 and was scheduled to go into dock in Bermuda the next week after our cruise for refurbishment, yet the ship still looked wonderful. It was clean and very well maintained...this was our 16th cruise and we thought this older ship was fine. (Our favorite line has been Royal Caribbean, owners of the Celebrity line...but now we have another favorite line to add to our list.) The only glitch for our trip was we had originally been scheduled to have a balcony room and were supposed to sail the same week the ship went in for repairs. Unfortunately all the balcony rooms on the dates we accepted as a trade were taken, so we begrudgingly accepted an outside windowed room which turned out to be comfortable.

We found the Panama Canal experience to be very interesting. We stayed on deck from just before sun-up until we passed through the last lock in late afternoon. The side-trips we took in every port were worth the money we spent. Overall we'd rate this cruise as an A+. We were told after the Celebrity Century came out of refurbishment it will be sailing thew Alaska route, then will be sent to Australia and end up in the Asian market. Think we'll check out the cruise from Hong Kong to Singapore for next year.\
