Sail Date: Apr 2014

This was our fourth Viking Cruise and we have enjoyed every one, matter of fact we have our fifth cruise already booked.

We sailed north on the Rhone River leaving from Avignon after enjoying the pre tour in Nice where we visited Monaco. Viking has really been good to us, for some reason unknown to us we were upgraded in to the Explore Suite. This is a fantastic accommodation with two river views off the stern of the ship. This is a new Long Ship having made its first cruise only four weeks before our trip. Mark our program director was always there to make sure everyone on the ship was taken care of. The itinerary laid out for the trip was perfect, we never felt rushed and enjoyed all of well spoken local guides.

Life on the ship was enhanced with great food, free wine for lunch and dinner and friendly staff. The Portraits of Southern France cruise is very relaxing as well as educational if interested in wine. We also extended the trip with the Paris extension where we found the hotel very nice but it would have nicer if it was closer to the inner city, but the Metro station was just out side the hotel.
