This was my wife's and I very first cruise. We choose this cruise line and ship because it was the only ship going to Puerto Rico the week we had available to be on vacation. We are happy to say that we chose wisely and had a fantastic time. From the moment we arrived at the port until we got back to our airport Royal Caribbean took care of almost every need and worry. I'll start with our cabin. Even though it was on the third floor we felt like first class passengers. Our view was beautiful every morning with deep blue green ocean and bright blue skies. Watching the sunlight stream into our room was one of the best parts of our morning. Coffee at the cafe on the Royal Promenade before working out at the fitness center quickly became a morning ritual. After our workout we would enjoy breakfast. We ate at both the main dining room and the Windjammer. The food was great at both locations, but if you want to be pampered go to the main dining room. Where they have a healthy buffet, made to order omelets, and a selective menu of delicious meals available. They will even cut up a orange for you if you request it. The Windjammer breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of food choices and is open a little longer than the main dining room for you late sleepers. The food was also very good and there was plenty of normal and regional choices. The staff in both places were very friendly.

After breakfast you had plenty of choices to spend your time both port and sail days. We spend on second day in CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private Caribbean Island, enjoying the sun, sand, and water. Short hiking trails, and a small shopping center (bring cash), plus a BBQ lunch were some of the other activities we enjoyed. On sailing days we spend our time on deck enjoying the sun and drink specials. They also had contests and line dancing events to keep you entertained on board. On day four we arrived in Puerto Rico. We booked a Rainforest Hike through the cruise line and we had a great time with the tour group and hiking though the rainforest. We even had time to do some shopping and stopped at Barrachina the home of the Pina Colada. We had a couple of pina coladas and then walked back to the ship. We had such a great time in Puerto Rico we are planning on going back for a longer stay. On our fourth day we stopped at Philipsburg, St Maarten. We originally planned on going to hiking on the french side but we choose to stay on the beach near the docks and enjoyed the weather and local shopping. After several hours of swimming and napping we did a little shopping and headed back to the ship for the two day cruise back to our home port. During those two days sailing back we spent a lot of our afternoons on the sports deck as well as the pool area. Rock wall climbing, miniature golf, volleyball, basketball, and the Flowrider we great fun even if you were just watching.

Our evenings started off with a Broadway style or comedy show ever evening at 7:00 pm. The entertainment was great. We enjoyed every show. The only show we needed to schedule was the Freedom Ice show in Studio B because of limited seating. After the show we went to our main dining room seating at 9:00 pm. We had a great group at our table. We became quick friends and spent a lot of time together on the ship. The food was excellent and the wait staff went way above our expectations including preparing a special native Indian dish upon our request. It was one of the best features of this ship. There was always four or more choices for appetizers, main course, and dessert. We often got three desserts to share between us. After dinner we would change and head out to the evening entertainment. Dancing to Latin music at Boleros, Game shows at Studio B, Comedy Shows in the Arcadia Theatre, Karaoke at the On Air club, Dancing under the Stars on the pool and sun decks, and walking around the Royal Promenade.

Cabin Review

When we booked our cruise we chose a guaranteed ocean view room not knowing where we would be staying on board. Once we learn of our rooms location and how close it was to the Crypt, a late night club, we had a few reservations. I am happy to say that they were unwarranted. Our room was just the right size for the two of us. Our bed was centered on our window giving us wonderful natural light though out the whole cruise. It was kept at the right temperature for sleep, resting, and napping. The storage space was ample and the bed and chair very comfortable. Our bathroom was only big enough for one person at a time but efficient just the same to us. The best part of our room was our attendant. He did a fascistic job of making us comfortable for the our entire trip. We would recommend our room, ship, and cruise line to anyone seeking a fun and relaxing cruise.
