We got off the Grand yesterday. DId the inside passage. Was a terrific cruise. Be warned: Embarkation is awful…almost 2 hrs waiting in lines and disembarkation is also awful. Our flight was at noon yesterday, by 9am we were nowhere close to getting off so we just got in a random line and walked off the ship. With the $22 pp shuttle to SeaTac and the long ride there, plus security we only had about an hr 15min prior to boarding. So be warned. We were on Caribe 106, that fluke of an inside room that is vertical rather then horizontal. Crew is attentive but does not go out of its way in anyway shape or form. The captain is invisible. The elevators are slow but I would certainly sail GP again. Since this is an alaskan cruise people tend to congregate indoors, though we did see a few souls in the hot tubs. We lucked out in Juneau & Skagway with temps in the 60's and sunny blue skies. Ketchikan was typically rainy and cold. Food was good, we had early seating in the DaVinci (5:30) with the least friendly waiter we have ever encountered. He would thrust a menu at us not bothering to give us recommendations or explain the dishes. Service was super fast, barely finished a appetizer when the salad would appear. There was no sommelier that I saw. The assist waiter brought us drinks. I think there was a lack of English language confidence. I didn't go to any shows on board but the Piazza seemed to be the big hang out. They had pianist and string quartets and singers. Tracy's Arm is worth getting up for-astounding sights. Whale watching excursions in Juneau is also great fun. We booked on shore w/Juneau Whale Watching. Very professional and fun.

Cabin Review

We were on Caribe 106, that fluke of an inside room that is vertical rather then horizontal. Super quiet except you do hear the ship docking and occasionally muffled sounds from the Princess theatre. Tiny tiny bathrooms….
