A Gem of a Cruise

Sail Date: March 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: New York (Manhattan)
To Start with after 8 Cruise i find the longer thru the winter I wait the better the Cruise! late february and March has been our best cruises.

Now about the Gem:

Sunny Sailing and a Great Weather what we needed after the Brutal Syracuse Winter!

Embarkation from new york City is awesome if you can take Amtrak to Penn Station your only 1.5 miles away from the Cruise Port. Embarkation was fast a(as a Gold NCL member) they treated me well.

Sailing from NYC seeing the Statue of Liberty and the Freedom tower was amazing departure the best of all departures.

NCL Gem Food was available at all times it seems. we eat at Different times so we Love FreeStyle! Drinks were good and the prices are comparable to the other lines(I have been on other lines and the drink prices are the same).

The weather for the Cruise was perfect and being we sailed in some seriuos ocean (2 days Down and 2 days back the Ocean was amazingly calm.

The More Service on the Cruise raged from OK to excellent, they did seem to have alot of new employees on the ship and some seemed a bit lost, the veteran servers were Awesome, our Room attendant was the best.

SanJuan: we should have taken an excursion as we spent most of the time walking around the shops and at Senor Frogs.

St. Maartin: Beautiful Island i would love to spend a week at, we did the Americas Cup Regatta and had a blast!

St Thomas: we had a Blast doing the Tree Limining Zip Line safe and scary at the same time!

Samana: Meh we shoulda booked the beach but it was all booked up so we went on shore and took a tour of town and nothing there, and then got a motorcycle taxi ride to the bgi waterfall, and Meh just ok

time on board the ship was great the bar help was getting better as the trip went on and this happens when NCL unveils two big ships in two years. all in all a great Cruise the Gem even has a observation deck where you cna view the bridge Very impressive but no big ship wheel...LOL??

The Shows were excellent wasnt impressed with the comedian though. Less

as far as obstructed view ...it was obstructed, we will pass on that, but the rest of the room was functional and just what we needed for the trip. Big enough Clean and well kept.
