I was really looking forward to this trip as it would start almost literally in our back yard and we wouldn't need to travel more than 10 minutes by car to get to the ship.
Everything started off very well until we got to our cabin. Our kids had arrange for a couple of bon voyage gifts for us and a couple of gifts for me for the next day which would be Mother's Day.
Something had gone wrong and everything was there when we arrived. The gifts were one plate of choc covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne for our bon voyage and a beverage card and a plate of the choc strawberries for Mother's Day. Trying to eat all the strawberries before they started to mould became our goal for the first couple of days since they were very ripe and having them a day separate would have been better.
The Rotterdam is certainly showing her age and a lot of rust formation was present at the bottom of the bathroom door and on the outside balcony. We had a 'whirlpool' in our cabin but only a child would be small enough to use it, certainly not myself and my husband who is 6ft 2in.We thought that the cabin was clean and was being cleaned quite well until on the last morning of our cruise we discovered an empty water bottle between the vanity and the curtain. We had not used any bottled water during our trip and therefore the bottle had to have been there since at least the last cruise.
