First thing.....ignore the complainers. We liked it so much, we booked a cruise on the Breakaway for the 2nd year in a row. There was a lot available on the ship that we didn't get to do that we want to make sure we do this time. This goes for Bermuda as well. This will make our third trip to Bermuda. It is by far our favorite port of call. We have also been to Nassau twice, Grand Turk, Freeport, Port Canaveral, and Half Moon Cay on two different Carnival ships (which do not even come close to comparing to how nice the Breakaway is).

The Norwegian Breakaway is amazing and a complete bargain for the price. It's big, its nice, and there is a lot to do. I'll start with embarkation. This went smoothly and seemed very organized. We were quite early by design (I did not know what to expect driving in Manhattan but we did not get stuck in traffic at all. Evidently, Sunday morning is a really good time to be boarding so I am glad this is a Sunday to Sunday cruise. We drove from West Virginia over two days but drove straight home the Sunday we returned with no problem). All the passengers from the previous cruise were not off yet so we did have to wait a little bit to get on, but there is a nice big area to wait. The wait did not seem very long. We got right on.

Even though the rooms were not supposed to be available, we were permitted to drop our bags and luggage in our rooms. While my fiance was doing that, I went to the guest services desk to add her grandparents to the dinner reservation we had for that night. That was done very easily first thing with no problem except for a little bit of a language barrier (standard on cruise ships). I did see the room. We had a mid-ship balcony. It was quite nice, the bed was comfortable, and the bathrooms were the nicest I've seen on cruise ships. Yes, the balcony is small but it did it's job. This is a cruise ship with over 5,500 people on board. Rooms and balconies are always small. If a couple less feet from what you're used to keeps you from traveling on this ship, you are missing out. I was able to enjoy sitting outside in the mornings and evenings looking out at the ocean. The technology on the ship was great. You can view your account on your TV in your room or on the app that you can download on your smart phone, which we did. You can also pay a very minimal fee for the week to be able to text through the app on the ship with no cellular carrier charge. This is great and is very beneficial if you will be separated from anybody at any time. In addition to that, there are touch screens located around the boat that you can make reservations on and get directions to wherever you are going. Yes, there are only a few TV channels, but if you are going to pay thousands of dollars to watch TV, why not save money and spend the week in your living room. There is so much to do outside your room. To me, it's for sleeping and showering.
