Sail Date: May 2014

On Sunday morning, my BFF & I drove to Galveston to sail on Navigator of the Seas for a 6-day cruise to the western Caribbean. We arrived at our parking lot about 10:45 a.m. and were immediately transported to the pier. Check-in was absolutely flawless; were on the ship and eating lunch in the Windjammer at 11:30. Since we couldn’t go to our cabins till 1:30, we did some exploring after lunch. We also picked up ice show tickets at a table on the Royal Promenade…no waiting in line, no hassle.

Our cabin, #6624, was a hump balcony; my first balcony on a RCL ship. The cabin itself was a little larger than the “standard” cabin I was used to, but not much. The cabin was very comfortable and had plenty of room for our stuff. The balcony was small but big enough for the two of us; had two standard chairs and one small table. We were on the port side and had direct sun on the balcony in the late afternoon. Unwanted light was never a problem inside the cabin because there are black-out drapes as well as sheers; made it easy enough to take a nap in the afternoon.

Day 1, the evening entertainment in the Metropolis Theater was a comedian, Rick Corso. There was only one show for everyone, 10:00 p.m. He was “fair”, but his late-night adult comedy show was very raunchy. Can’t say that I’d really want to see him again. Went by the liquor tasting on the Royal Promenade and it was almost a joke. They had one person working and only offered tastings of 2 different things, and had no liqueurs at all.
