We have been traveling with Celebrity for over a decade and found our recent transatlantic crossing to be indicative of a real decline in both customer service and food standards. It was not what we expected and friends traveling with us who had been lured from Princess, shared our feelings.
We were in Aqua and after 2 dinners in Blu, gave it a pass for the rest of the voyage. This was not our first time in Blu and we found the menu on this trip to be pretentious and disappointing. The food was either overcooked or cold. Cold food seemed to be a theme in the buffet area also with many "hot" dishes barely at room temperature. The staff seemed put out if one asked for something freshly prepared. Paninis on the Porch were burnt on the outside and ice cold in the middle.
The staff appeared to be replaced by "Pod People" and left one wondering if we were on the same cruise line as our last transatlantic. Where did all the cheerful, happy people disappear to? The most frequent exchange heard from a staff member was "I am sorry" followed by "I have to ask my supervisor". Room Service had a tendency not to show up at all or to bring the wrong things. Laundry was a three day wait and formal wear ordered for the cruise- normally in cabin on sailing- only showed up after 2 days and a question as to its whereabouts.
