Sail Date: Mar 2014

Our group of 3 couples booked this cruise with Oceania which left Rio De Janeiro on March 29, 2014 and ended at Miami on April 19, 2014. For clarifiaction, this was not an Antarctic cruise. The reason we chose this certain cruise was that it included 7 nights on the Amazon River, going up river as far as Manaus, Brazil. The cruise itinerary was absolutely delightful and the Regatta cruise ship was great - including the gourmet food. Oh heck, especially the food!!! We docked at at least 14 ports during the cruise and had booked excursion tours for the day.

The Regatta is a smaller ship, with only 684 passengers - very different from our normal cruises with 4,000 people on board. This ship is geared to an older clientelle which we sometimes found somewhat frustrating as we are quite active. (We are in our mid 60's). We had heard that Oceania cruiselines is a more upscale line and we found this to be very true. We had booked an ocean view room on dectk 4 which was great but I think that a balcony would have been much better. However, our group normally spent a lot of time on the main deck anyway.

The service on Regatta was superb from room servcie to the dining room. I personally did not really participate in a lot of activities but there was certainly lots of things to kkep a person occupied.

Cabin Review

The romm was well laid out but maybe a bit on the small side. My wife and I are not large people so we had no problem. All amenities were there that we required. We were a little concerned since this was a smaller ship and we did a fair amount of open ocean cruising but this boat was well stabilized and no one from our group was ill.
