If you're a old pro at cruising, you will get your money's worth on this cruise. The ship isn't sparkly new, but it's not falling apart either. We had a mid-ship balcony and it was small, but comfortable. If you enjoy quiet and privacy, the balcony is worth the few extra dollars.
This end of April cruise is the last cruise of the season that is not crammed with children, and not over-crowded. We never waited in line at the buffet, but as vets, we know to go at the 'off' times to avoid lines. (This applies to everything; don't do anything at 'peak' times.) Carnival has a beautiful dessert buffet, with nice surprises, like Napoleons, which are better than those most bakeries sell. For dinner, we chose the 'dine anytime' option, and never waited more than a few minutes for a table for two. We liked the food in the dining room; don't ask for anything extra, like mustard, or extra ANYTHING, because you won't get it. The meals are 'plated', and the waiters can't do anything about it.
The evening entertainment in the main theatre was okay, but nothing special. There is no live band. A group of eight singers and dancers, more singing than dancing. The late night 'adult' entertainment is EXTREME vulgarity, so be warned: NOT for the puritans-at-heart. The casino slots were loose, which is unusual on a cruise ship.
