Took my wife and two small children on this short get away to Freeport. I thought this would be a good opportunity to introduce the kids to cruising, it would be my 14th cruise; all with Carnival. We stayed a night pre-cruise at the Radisson and left the hotel around 11 am that morning. Embarkation was a breeze and the staff was super friendly, with my platinum status I would say we were on board around noon. Our room was ready to go so we dropped off our bags and headed to water works. The slides were fantastic ( I was actually a little frightened going down them they were so fast!) My six year old daughter loved the splash park. Food up on deck was good, the highlights being Guy's Burger and the mongolian wok from JiJi's asian grill (which is free at lunch time, and has a slight up charge for dinner which we didn't do). Didn't try Cucina del Capitano. Pizza was a little different then the other times I have cruised and I would say it was good, but not great. Breakfast in the morning was great, I had an omelet (very good) and breakfast burrito from the Blue Iguana (fantastic!). Food in the MDR at night for dinner was ok. I thought for a two night cruise they would have busted out their better selections, though you could get lobster the second night. Cabin steward wasn't around much, but it was hard to judge her work on just two days. She was attentive to anything I paged her about though. The room was clean and had a nice look. I will say I was somewhat disappointing they did not included mini-bars in the rooms in a $155 million dollar refit. Didn't experience much in the way of entertainment, but I will say aain that the DJ on the top deck is not a good idea. Music was overbearing and the song selections questionable (Salt 'n peppa - Push it , at sail away? with young children around?). They need to go back to the reggae bands on the type deck. I do not say this lightly as I am a professional mobile DJ going on 14 years now. Staff in the dining room were terrific, they held on to a photo I purchased and left behind at dinner one night. Debarkation was tough , but that's on me as we did self assist and I had to lug everyone's stuff around, but I knew this going in. The plus being we were off the ship and on the road @ 815am! Overall and enjoyable & fun get away! They really have made the ship feel new , and given it a nice light airy look to it, pleasing to the eyes!

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8A

Clean and nicely appointed after the refurbishment. Plenty of storage, though it does not have a mini bar :( Pull down bunk & hide a bed couch functioned well for the kids! Bathroom had nice sized shower, not a corner job, a full rectangular shape.
