This was my first cruise, and the second for my traveling companion. We were part of a group of scrapbookers, booked as a group through a local travel agent. My traveling companion and I chose to drive to the terminal so we could haul all of our scrapbooking supplies, in addition to our clothes - without a lot of space constraint.
From reading the Cruise Critic boards ahead of time, we were a bit concerned about "accessibility." My traveling companion has some mobility issues, and we're BOTH large women (300 lbs +). We'd tried (last-minute) to upgrade to a handicapped room, but they were all taken, so we decided to wing it - and for the most part, there were no major issues. (Issues will be noted...)
This cruise was also a "guinea pig" sort of thing. My husband is disabled, and was also concerned about how accommodating the cruise line would be. He thought it would be good if I checked it out - to see if it would work for us. I was pleasantly surprised at just how accommodating the entire NCL staff was. (The only thing I would do differently is to make sure I get signed up for a handicapped room right off the bat.)
