We went on this cruise for a Spring Break. The cruisers were myself, DH,(both 40's) and his mother (70's). This was the third cruise for DH and me, and the second for my MIL. This was the first RCI cruise for each of us. We have only ever sailed on Carnival before this. We live in the Atlanta area and drove down the day before our cruise (about an 8 hour ride). We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Cocoa Beach, just a few minutes drive from the cruise terminals. It was a clean and relatively new hotel. The rooms were very nice (the hubs and me in a king and my MIL in a king suite) and well appointed. The continental breakfast was well stocked and fresh.

We arrived early to the terminal, around 930am, before they opened the doors. (We didn't plan on getting there so early. We wanted to see the Exploration Tower before going but it doesn't open until 10am.) There was a drop off area that was full of waiting porters eager to take our bags in for us. We left the checked bags with them then went to get in line. Around 10am they opened the doors and we went inside. The check in process is very efficient. I appreciated the chairs in the waiting areas! Our Sail and Sign cards were already printed, all we had to do was show the credit card we wished to use and our passports and we were finished checking in. We did have to wait about 30 minutes to board, but it wasn't bad. There was a group of us in the waiting area making conversation to pass the time.

Once on board we went straight to the Windjammer for lunch. There was plenty of available seating and the food was fresh and hot. There was quite a variety from hamburgers/hot dogs to Asian dishes and pasta. There was a large salad bar also and a dessert counter, of course! Everything we tasted was pretty good but nothing fancy. There was an announcement overhead that if you are finished, get up and let others have your table, so we left, which didn't bother us since that is the fair thing to do. So off we went to explore the ship some. We still had our carry-on bags so we didn't go far. ha! We found a table in the pool area that was empty and sat there until 130pm when the state rooms were ready.

Cabin Review

This was our first balcony room but won't be the last! The room was plenty big enough for the two of us. The bathroom was small, but it had plenty of storage space for toiletries, etc. Be sure to bring a couple of clothes pins to attach to the bottom of the shower curtain to help weight it down so it doesn't attack you when the shower is on! The closet has a little three drawer "dresser" built in which was nice. Be sure to bring extra hangers! There are maybe 10 or so hangars in the closet. The bed was comfortable and clean. The tv has a good variety of channels and is adjustable so you can watch it while sitting on the couch or laying in bed. The couch was comfortable and in good shape. The vanity area had a lot of drawers and a large mirror. There were two 110 outlets on the vanity so you may want to bring a power strip if you need more than two. There is a hair dryer provided that works better than any hotel dryer I've ever used. I have pretty thick hair and was worried that it wouldn't get my hair dry but it did just fine. The balcony was just as expected. It had two chairs and a small table and the "wall" is glass so you can see down to the water while sitting. We loved sitting out there in the morning with coffee delivered via room service. The cool breeze at night was just perfect. We were close to the Centrum area, but never heard any noise from it unless we were in the hallway. While inside the room we didn't hear anything from other passengers, but when the balcony door was open we could hear the party from the pool deck. It didn't bother us, though. It was to be expected, after all there was a party going on! Book this room and you won't regret it!
