Sail Date: Jan 2007

Sailed from Ft Lauderdale on the Carnival Liberty 1/20/07 with 18 friends. This was our 16th cruise (have sailed with Carnival 5 times, also RCL, Princess & Norwegian). Embarkation was one of the slowest we have ever experienced and very disorganized.

Our cabin was a balcony on deck 8 (8315) and it was great. More than enough storage space and our cabin steward did a fabulous job. She introduced herself upon our arrival and asked if we had any special requests (extra pillows, etc). The only real issue in the cabin was the lack of electrical outlets. The only one available anywhere was at the desk! This meant that an extension cord was draped across the room each night for my husband's CPAP machine.

Food in the formal dining room was average - except for a few outstanding entrees and deserts. The lobster was wonderful and be sure and try the warm choc. melting cake. Service in the dining room made up for the bland food. The waiters did a phenomenal job making sure our needs were met, and the nightly entertainment in the dining room was always fun. The stage presentations were the usual - but with the exception of a really bad hypnotist, they were all pretty good. The singers and dancers were all quite talented. There was some difficulty getting a chair on sea days, as the usual group of pushy passengers draped towels across chairs - then didn't return for hours. We solved this by sitting on our own balcony most afternoons. Our one big complaint about the Liberty was the Lido deck restaurant (Emiles).Unlike other Carnival ships we have been on the service was terrible!!! The staff seemed to just stand around for the most part. We usually had to remove used dishes from the people before us - and tables and floors were always dirty and sticky. Not what we expected from Carnival at all. Since we eat breakfast & lunch in this area this was a definite negative! Also the buffet presentations were only average - and the same every day. Fish & chips were awful. As usual the pizza was great!!
