I just got off the Breakaway and during my cruise I couldn’t help but compare this ship to the Jewel class ships. I suppose this comparison was mainly due to my experience in the Haven suites on the Jewel class ships that prompted booking the Haven on the Breakaway. For those that have had that experience on the Jewel class you may find yourself as disappointed as I was.

Embarkation – Again this review is geared towards the suite experience, we were led as usual to the rooms reserved for the suite guests and I suppose higher level latitudes members. The space allocated for the privilege seemed similar to that of a normal class ship with double or perhaps triple the occupants. I realize the port is in charge of these arrangements but after about 20 minutes in this area it started to smell like a gym locker room. One of the attendants kept admonishing people for standing in the way but there was no open seating. My wife when admonished, politely asked where she was expected to sit? The response was “I don’t care but you can’t stand here”.

Those snacks and little sandwiches you’re accustomed to? Forget it… They were gone in the first 5 minutes with no replenishing. So now comes the personal escort from your butler… Nope… The whole room was escorted onto the ship estimate 80 to a 100 people. We were all led up to the courtyard lounge where the concierge was awaiting us to give us the general rundown of offerings. This had to be split up in groups due to the number of people.
