We booked this cruise as last minute inexpensive weekend getaway as we live about 25 minutes from the port in Fort Lauderdale. This was our first 4 nite cruise and our third time cruising on RCL. We booked an inside guarantee-have always picked our own cabin on our previous 4 cruises so was a bit anxious about it. As it turned out we were assigned a cabin on deck 3 midship which was very nice. The comforter was so plush that you did not want to get out of the bed! Brought a power strip to plug in hairdryer, cell phone charger, etc. Highly recommend it as there are only 2 outlets and where they are positioned on the vanity top makes plugging anything with much depth to it almost impossible. Yes, cell phones do work as long as you have international calling activated with your cell phone carrier. I had Verizon and it did work. Did not eat in the diningroom at all this cruise. Heard from other passengers that food choice was okay but not fantastic. We ate in the Windjammer Buffet for breakfast and dinner for 2 nites. They have the same selections as the diningroom and more!!!!! Really enjoyed eating here. I have to say that RCL is very serious about people not getting sick. They have a staff member stationed at every diningroom next to the automatic hand sanitizing machine and are diligent asking people to use it. Even when we were reboarding the ship after spending the day in Key West and Cozumel, you are asked to cleanse your hands before walking up the gangway. I saw staff cleaning and disinfecting the handrailings on the ship as well. We had the good fortune to be able to dine at the specialty restaurant Chops Grille both the first and last nite of our cruise. There were wait lists for every nite and were the envy of many who were not able to get a reservation. There is a $20 gratuity per person however the meal and the service is worth ten times more. The maitre d David is a charming and charismatic gentleman who acts as the ambassador for his gracious staff. We had read a previous review of Chops mentioning the serving team of Pilar and Juan and how wonderful they were. I joked with my husband that maybe we would be seated at their table. When our server came and introduced herself as Pilar we were so excited and so was she to hear that she was in a review on Cruise Critic! Pilar and Juan were wonderful. We sat at their table both nites and I can only say that we wish they could come home with us. In addition to providing elegant service and cuisine comparable to a 5 star restaurant, the ambiance of the restaurant and entire staff make it a royal treat! As far as other activities there were 2 midnight buffets which were good and many activities going on all day long. The shows were good and the Love and Marriage Game was hilarious. I had my first Mojito at Boleros-Raul makes the best! Overall the ship is beautifully maintained. The staff has those that are extremely friendly and those that look as though they are going through the motions but that is everywhere not just on a cruise ship. This cruise was sold out but we never felt that it was crowded and could always find a chair or table no matter where we were. It is always a letdown on the morning of disembarkment, however having to be out of the cabin by 8am to sit for 2 1/2 hours before your color is called puts an end to all of the magic. I am sure the process is as efficient as it can be, but you can't help but wonder if someone could come up with a more creative way? We had a great time, loved the ship, treasured our experience at Chops Grille and hope we can do it again soon.
