We love cruising and this was #8 but the first on NCL. We enjoyed free style. The Sun is an older vessel which needs some attention. We noticed weak floors in several areas, stained, worn and even torn carpet in some places, the smell of sewer gas at the beginning of our cruise. The Sun is a plain Jane of ships. Decorations, are non existent for the most part. The bath rooms in the cabins are painfully small. Entertainment was just okay. No Wow factor anywhere on this ship. We enjoyed the barbeque around the pool on sea days. There was music but not like we are used to on other lines. A lot of time the ship was very quiet and definitely for the older crowd (of which we belong!). We enjoyed the Great Outdoors on the aft of the ship. The only problem we had here was that the chairs and tables would get soot, etc from the engines on them. They tried to remedy this by keeping a covering over the area. However, I ruined a pair of light shorts before I learned to wipe the chair before I sat down. Food was okay but not enough variety in the main dining rooms. Only a couple new things each evening and the desserts were just not up to par. Even the chocolate bar which was available one evening and was beautiful did not have any flavor. We would cruise NCL again but not on this ship. It is a smaller ship which we like and easy to learn how to get around. The ship is scheduled for a 3 week dry dock in 2016 to upgrade the electronics, etc. This is not enough dry dock time to address the problems with the ship itself. This could be a fantastic ship if they increased the budget and time and really made improvements.
