This was our fifth cruise, 2nd with RCI. We've cruised on Princess and Celebrity and on Voyager of the Seas. My husband and I are in our early 50's. We flew into San Juan 2 days early and stayed at the Intercontinental. Although the hotel is an old one, the room was nice and clean and the pool area had just been redone. The people that worked there were very friendly and helpful. The first day we just relaxed around the pool and went to dinner with friends who live there to a restaurant for the locals, El Alcazar. Although the menu was in Spanish and the waiters only spoke Spanish, the food and service was excellent, thanks to our Spanish-speaking friends.

Saturday we went to OSJ. Because the San Sebastian festival was going on, traffic was bad and the city was crowded. We saw some of the historic sites and enjoyed the festivities. There was crafts, music, food, singing and dancing, parades, and crowds of people having a great time. In the evening, we went to El San Juan Hotel next to where we were staying. The lobby and lounge were beautifully decorated and a great place to people watch. I had the best chocolate martini.

Sunday we arrived at the cruise dock at 11:30 am and the doors had just opened. We were having a drink on the top deck by noon. The weather today and the rest of the week was perfect, sunny in the mid-80's. We had a balcony cabin on the deck 7 which I had switched from deck 6 because the balcony wall was more open. This was a good decision. Our cabin attendant was great and very pleasant. The bed was comfortable.
