  3. Carnival Sunshine

We cruised on the Carnival Sunshine for the Bloggers 7 Cruise with John Heald.

Embarkation was a breeze for us. We arrived early, and a LOT of others did as well. Onboard and enjoying the ship by around 11:20 a.m.

Layout- I had been on the Destiny twice before, so this was new to us. Also, the past cruises we have taken with Carnival have been the older style ships before the 2.0 upgrades. For the most part, we liked the layout. My girlfriend said she prefers the open style, but didn't mind the closed nature of the Sunshine.

We like to walk the track, but with the kids section and waterslides around, there was a lot of traffic on the walking tracking compared to normal. Just a lot of weaving for us.

Food- everything was good. MDR was a bit too fast service wise for our liking (we did late dining). Ji Ji's was a highlight. The food was amazing. We ate at the Steakhouse one evening with John Heald, and had a great meal. Guy's was okay....we split a burger, but the fries were too salty for our liking. Cucina was good, but we only ate there for lunch. Loved the Bonsai Sushi restaurant as well. Really liked the Alchemy Bar, and Cornelius was an excellent bartender. Also enjoyed the variety of drinks available VS normal Carnival menu.

Ports of Call- We used Victor Bodden for a private tour in Honduras, and loved the experience, although the beach vendors were annoying after a while at the Bananarama Resort. In Belize, we did the Wonders of the Barrier Reef snorkeling tour through the ship, and had a nice time. Cozumel is always Nachi Cocom for us, and always a great time.

Entertainment- Saw 4 main shows, and liked them all. Additional shows took place as part of the Bloggers Cruise, and we had a great time there as well. CD Butch was good, but not as readily available as other Cruise Directors.

Room- we stayed in an inside cabin on deck 6, mid ship. Could smell a bit of a sewer smell from time to time, but nothing offensive. Steward was adequate.

All in all, we had a great time, and are looking forward to our next cruise on Carnival.

Loved our time on the Sunshine
