We recently completed our twelfth cruise, sixth on Princess and the second on the Star Princess. The ship is actually very nice for its size. The mini-suites are spacious and very comfortable. The cabin staff is well-trained and attentive to our needs. Our negatives are two in number: The crowds around the any times dining rooms as they open, and the cuisine itself. Our past experience with Princess is that the food was better than average - not wonderful out of this world, but good. On our recently completed cruise to Hawaii from LA, we found that the food, both in the dining room and especially in the Horizon Court, had taken a turn for the worse. I tried a seafood dish almost every day for the first week. Without exception we found the seafood dishes to be bland, overcooked and over salted. So we sifted to the meat entrees. The beef medallions were well done to greenness and stringy/tough. The lamb shanks were cooked almost to a crisp and embedded in a brown gooey sauce from which no taste could be discerned but salt.. And so it went. The pies (cherry and apple) were filled with something gelatinous into which a few pieces of fruit were added. I am not a complainer when it comes to food. I like most things, but I had to draw the line on more than half the dishes we ordered, and either not eat them or send them back. I really don't know whether the problem is unique to the Star Princess and its present kitchen staff or it is a general economy drive which is driving down the quality, but I hope it's corrected soon, as we're committed on another Princess cruise this summer

Cabin Review

The cabin is large, the bed is comfortable, the tub/shower is a real treat to have. Absolutely first rate
