My husband and I have been on over 30 cruises and this cruise was number 19 for our 14 year old twins. We sailed out of NY because it's close to home and the price was right for 2 cabins. The cabins were cleaned twice a day and the cabin steward Francessco was polite and courteous. The dining room staff were also polite but on many nights they were short handed and we were often the first ones in at 8:15 and did not leave until after 10 pm.
The entertainment in the theater was not very good. It was very low budget with some singing and dancing. The theater was always empty and so was the piano bar and disco. One of my favorite things about a Carnival Cruise is that they have the piano bar where you can sit around the big piano and sing along. Jeremy WAS NOT the kind of guy you can sing along to. He sang a lot of his own original songs and when he sang something that someone requested, he put his own spin to it by changing the melody and no one was able to sing along. This type of singing is great if you're on American Idol but not on the "Fun Ship" Needless to say the piano bar was EMPTY every night too.
There were no activities on the 4 sea days. People were bored, playing cards, napping or complaining. They did have Bingo, The casino, Karaoke (Which no one ever attended) and 2 lounge singers that were horrible. Thank goodness they switched them out by the middle of the week. They were singing to empty chairs on both decks. The comedians were very good and the Martini Bar was the only bar on the ship that had people hanging around.
The Balcony room was lovely. Horrible color, even the tv remote was a horrible seafoam green and white. They were doing maintenance on the Balcony on the morning we were in freeport and we were unable to sit on the balcony with a cup of coffee to enjoy the view. they were out there for about an hour and a half. The cabin size was fine for my husband and I and my children were across the hall in an inside cabin and that was fine for them as well.
